Ronald Rae at the Falkirk Wheel
When the popular Holyrood Park Exhibition ended in April 2008, many of the sculptures found permanent homes. The remainder moved on to The Falkirk Wheel where there are now fourteen granite stone sculptures on display, featuring Rae’s latest works, Heavy Horse and Foal, Elephant Family and St. Francis, on exhibition for the first time. Two sculptures have recently been added to the exhibition – Mother and Child and Wild Boar. All the sculptures are hand carved in granite taking several months to complete. The exhibition represents fifteen years of work. The sculptures create an interesting walk around the Wheel ending with the largest work the fifteen tonne dynamic Tyger Tyger sited on the hill with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. The exhibition is free and runs throughout 2010.
