Animals in War Memorial

This relief sculpture was initiated by a possible commission. Rae had a vivid dream in which he saw the skeleton of a horse and followed his vision through in the sculpture. It is Rae’s requiem for all the animals that died in past wars, in particular horses who died in their millions. The soldier with half an arm and wearing a gas mask is a reference to the horrors of chemical warfare.
