Ian Hughes Smith. Browsing leisurely through more of Ronnie’s illustrations I am beginning to grasp the meaning of some of those imbued with a spirit of hope – perhaps of renaissance. This weary world and its ancient Bibles need such an injection if we are to carry on without being weighed down by depression.
In short, my first impressions, based on only a few illustrations, were too negative. I was failing to do justice to what he is endeavouring to communicate. Definitely my loss, now to be rectified.
Ronnie’s imagination is beyond imagining…
Thank you Ian for taking more time to look at Ronald Rae’s work. He knows it is not easy for another person to enter his head. He finds it hard enough himself to know why he reaches these conclusions in his art.
